Premier League's most hated club revealed - and it's probably not who you think

Our exclusive survey of thousands of fans has revealed the most loved and hated teams in the Premier League - and there are one or two surprises

City and United fans face off at the Etihad
The most hated team in the Premier League has been revealed - and it's not Manchester United.

A survey run by the Manchester Evening News and its sister titles asked thousands of fans whether they love, hate or are indifferent to each current top flight side apart from their own.

The view of fans of each Premier League club were given equal weighting in drawing up the results, no matter how many voted, to keep the overall table fair.

Chelsea came out as the most hated team in the top flight, but only just. A fraction of a percent separated the west London club from the next most hated team, United.

On average, 68.7% of fans said they hated Chelsea compared to 68.1% for United.

Liverpool are the third most hated team (52.8%), while West Ham (47.6%) and Arsenal (46.2%) complete the top five.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, United are hated most by their nearest rivals, City.

A total of 97% of City fans surveyed said that they hated United. That puts the Old Trafford club ahead of Liverpool (83.2%), Chelsea (64%) and Arsenal (49.5%).

Interestingly, 0.8% of City fans said they actually loved United.

The feelings of hatred are mutual, with 93.6% of United fans saying that they hated City.

United fans appear to hate Liverpool more though with 94.6% of those surveyed saying that they hate Liverpool.

Just under 96% of Liverpool fans said they hated United, as did 91% of Arsenal fans.

As far as United fans are concerned though, Liverpool are their biggest rivals. Just under 95% of United fans said that they hate the Merseyside club. That’s just ahead of the 93.6% of fans who said they hate City.

Not all the emotions being thrust at Liverpool and City are ones of hatred though. A total of 2.3% and 2.1% of fans said they love Liverpool and City respectively.

Burnley are the league’s most loved side with an average of 35.8% of fans saying they loved the Clarets.

Bournemouth come next with 32.9%, Huddersfield are third with 30.2% and City are fourth with 28.3%.

The Premier League's 20 quickest players this season have been revealed

Speed is everything in football.

How many Premier League footballers would be playing in England’s top-flight if it wasn’t for their searing pace?

And every position needs a bit of speed - whether it’s with or without the ball.

But it can sometimes be hard to determine exactly how fast footballers are.

During matches, sprints only occur over a short distance - something 10 or 20 metres.

Unless the Premier League are going to organise an end-of-season sports day, it’s almost impossible to say who the fastest player is.

Is it Hector Bellerin?

Is it Leroy Sane?

Is it Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

Well, according to Opta, it’s none of the above - not this season anyway.

They produced a list of the top 20 speeds players have hit this season and there’s a surprise winner.

THE 20 FASTEST PLAYERS IN THE PL THIS SEASON

Take a look:

20. Callum Paterson | Cardiff | 34.347 km/h vs Newcastle
19. Ricardo Pereira | Leicester | 34.353 vs Southampton
18. Mason Holgate | Everton | 34.361 vs Bournemouth
17. Ben Chilwell | Leicester | 34.380 vs Wolves

16. Ben Chilwell | Leicester | 34.385 vs Southampton
15. Raul Jimenez | Wolves | 34.389 vs Manchester City
14. Josh Murphy | Cardiff | 34.397 vs Huddersfield
13. Isaac Mbenza | Huddersfield | 34.460 vs Cardiff

12. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing | Cardiff | 34.485 vs Newcastle
11. Adama Diakhaby | Huddersfield | 34.511 vs Manchester City
10. Kevin De Bruyne | Man City | 34.568 vs Arsenal
9. Richarlison | Everton | 34.655 vs Southampton

8. Leroy Sane | Man City | 34.692 vs Huddersfield
7. Timothy Fosu-Mensah | Fulham | 34.724 vs Burnley
6. Timothy Fosu-Mensah | Fulham | 34.738 vs Tottenham
5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | Arsenal | 34.753 vs Manchester City

4. Ryan Fredericks | West Ham | 34.767 vs Arsenal
3. Aaron Lennon | Burnley | 34.826 vs Southampton
2. Kyle Walker | Manchester City | 34.845 vs Arsenal
1. Dominic Calvert-Lewin | Everton | 34.935 vs Southampton

Last season, Sane was crowned as the fastest player in the Premier League, reaching a top speed of  35.48 km/h against Chelsea.

With the German barely being given much chance to stretch his legs this season, he could well be eyeing that number one spot when he’s properly up and running.

How Arsene Wenger Made Arsenal Lose Matches - Petr Cech

Arsène Wenger

Petr Cech has issued a withering assessment of Arsène Wenger’s final years with Arsenal, claiming that following “the Arsenal way” became more important than winning.
Cech, who played for three seasons under Wenger, said the French manager effectively gave up any prospect of winning the Premier League by dogmatically adhering to his principles at the expense of positive results.
The goalkeeper’s comments are more overtly critical of Wenger than any other current Arsenal player has been.
Speaking after he had helped Arsenal to a fourth successive victory in the league, Cech said: “In the past, I would say the ‘Arsenal way’ was more important than getting the points sometimes and this is not how you win the league.”
Cech said Arsenal’s failure to sustain a title challenge under Wenger showed the club had lost the understanding of what it takes to succeed.
Speaking after Arsenal’s win over Everton on Sunday, Cech said Unai Emery, the new head coach, is working gradually to release Arsenal from their cycle of underachievement.
He said: “This club have not won the league for over ten years. So, obviously, you need to get back into knowing how to do it. We started with the new manager from scratch, basically, and we try to get this mentality of winning every game, progressing every game, working every day and, hopefully, we can build this up and win the title sooner rather than later. That will make the big difference.”
“For any club who wins titles in the recent years, you have a team with the know-how how to finish it off, and you can see it in any sport. I take Tiger Woods: [it was] ten years since he won a major tournament. The longer it goes on, the harder it becomes.
“Sometimes you need to make sure you win an ugly game, when you are not playing well but you just dig deep, close the back door and win 1-0 no matter how. This is what we lacked. [Against Everton], we went through difficult moments but got the win with the clean sheet, so this is very positive.”
In a further criticism of Wenger’s methods, Cech said Emery’s regime was far more challenging of the players than his predecessor’s.
He said: “I think the place became much more demanding in every way. So this is great to see because this is what initially drives everybody forward and gives you the kind of kick, that ‘I’m not doing enough to start the game’ or ‘I’m not doing enough to keep my spot in the game’ because the manager asked for precision and hard work. This is how it should be. We have very healthy competition and we are actually taking the benefit of it. It comes from the everyday work and the manager’s way of playing the game as well.”

Why Elephants Have Cracks In Their Skin

Elephants' wrinkles aren't just about age. In fact, the observation that baby elephants don't have wrinkles in their skin led researchers to wonder why and how these form.

What they discovered is that the skin "cracks" to improve their quality of life, according to a study published Tuesday in the journal Nature Communications.

Researchers at the University of Geneva and the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics studied the skin surface of African bush elephants and realized that those wrinkles form an intricate network of tiny crevices.

This lattice pattern fractures and bends as the elephants grow, creating millions of channels across their skin. The result looks rather like the cracks that form in dried mud, in damaged asphalt, across the polar landscape of the Earth and Mars or even within natural formations like Northern Ireland's Giant's Causeway or eastern California's Devils Postpile, the researchers said.

If that were true, it would imply that the cracks form because of skin shrinkage. The researchers used samples of elephant skin and ran simulations to figure out how the cracks formed, and they realized that new layers at the base layer of their skin allowed for bending at the surface. That bending created "microvalleys" on the top layer.

But how would micrometer cracks in their skin help elephants?

"It is very counterintuitive that cracking the skin could be beneficial," study author Michel Milinkovitch, professor at the University of Geneva's department of genetics and evolution, wrote in an email.

African elephants don't have sweat and sebum glands to keep their skin moist in their warm, dry environment. To cope with overheating, especially due to their size, elephants are known to bathe, spray water and wallow in mud. The mud helps them regulate their body temperature, avoid parasites and protect from solar radiation.

The mud, combined with the cracks in their skin, allows the elephants to retain five to 10 times more water than if their skin were a flat surface.

"This beautiful fine pattern of millions of channels is adaptive," Milinkovitch said. And as opposed to the scales of a crocodile's head, which the researchers have previously studied, the skin truly cracks rather than merely creating a folded pattern.

This realization also led the researchers to establish a connection to humans.

"This study potentially establishes a link between a human pathological condition and the skin of African elephants," Milinkovitch said. "Strikingly, we show strong similarities between the normal skin morphology of African elephants and that of humans affected by 'ichthyosis vulgaris,' a common genetic disorder affecting about 1 in 250 people that is known to impact shedding of the skin and cause dry, scaly skin."

If future studies confirm this link, it would be evidence of how an unfavorable mutation in humans is a helpful adaptation in elephants.

Going forward, Milinkovitch would like to have the chance to study another newborn elephant and follow its progress.

"We would like to follow the cracking on the skin of a baby African elephant to understand the dynamic of the process," he said. "Are the cracks appearing everywhere or do they appear in a specific place and then propagate? Does it take ... weeks or does it take six months? It's a new, beautiful example of how physical processes are involved in the development of animal forms and shapes."

Why I wanted to leave Chelsea – Morata

Alvaro Morata admits he considered leaving Chelsea after a “disastrous” year that culminated in him missing the World Cup.

Morata was dropped from the Spain squad after scoring only three times in 23 games for Chelsea in the second half of last season.

“Yes I considered returning to Spain or Italy, but you cannot always escape reality,” Morata said.

“I left Spain to be at the World Cup and I did not go.”

Since then, Luis Enrique has taken the Spanish reins from Julen Lopetegui’s short-term replacement, Fernando Hierro, while Maurizio Sarri has arrived at Chelsea after Antonio Conte departed in July.

Enrique’s first squad included a recall for Morata, who has also started Chelsea’s four Premier League games so far under Sarri.

“Last year I started well but in the end it was a disaster,” Morata said. “I did not even know where I was when I went out to play.”

Asked how he felt after being left out of the World Cup squad, the 25-year-old said: “I thought ‘how am I going to get through the summer without going to the World Cup?’

“It was a hard moment but I’m going to do everything I can to go to the next one. It was a difficult time because I expected to go.”

Morata had lost the confidence of Conte, who experimented with Eden Hazard as a lone striker and then preferred Olivier Giroud towards the end of the campaign.

Sarri, however, appears to be offering Morata a fresh start.

“At my club, the way of playing has changed and it’s more similar to what is played here with Spain, many passes, a lot of possession and freedom to attack,” Morata said.

Enrique, meanwhile, is tasked with reinvigorating a Spanish side still smarting after their shock last-16 defeat to Russia at the World Cup. They face England at Wembley in the League of Nations before hosting Croatia on Tuesday in Elche.

“Luis Enrique tells us that he wants Spain to win again and wants everyone to know who Spain is,” Morata said.

“He asks for a lot of intensity, a lot of concentration and he seems to me a very sincere person, who wants to win.”

5 Common Mistakes You Need To Stop Making While Exercising

If you have been working out on your own, make sure you don't make these common mistakes

How to exercise right

Have you been working out religiously to lose those extra kilos? If yes, then have you been ensuring to do your exercises in the right manner? While exercising is great to stay fit and active, improve your physique, body movement and joint strength, doing it incorrectly can cause injuries and lead to various issues in the long run. Most people tend to make minor mistakes in their body posture while working out, which can cause severe harm to the spine and the joints. It's not just about warming up, having a light meal 30 minutes before exercising or staying hydrated throughout the session that's important. How you do your exercises should also be paid attention to or done under the guidance of a fitness trainer.

If you have been working out on your own, make sure you don't make these common mistakes, as highlighted by Dr Aashish Chaudhry, Orthopaedic Surgeon at Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital, and Archana Joshi, a trainer at Anytime Fitness:

1. Jogging on your heels
This can tire you out easily. It also shakes your ankles, knees and hips which over time could develop into shin splints, knee pain and other leg injuries. It's better to run on the balls of your feet to absorb the shock.
2. Bad neck positions
People tend to look down or straight ahead when doing squats, push ups or deadlifts. This strains the cervical spine. It's better to pack the neck, point the chin down, make a double chin and keep it that way while you do your squats.

3. Letting your knees cave in
This can cause knee injury due to stress on the knees, especially when doing weight lifting exercises and squats. The knees must bend outwards to avoid stress. Also clench the side muscles of your hips to keep the knees from buckling under the weight.

4. Taking small steps when lunging
This puts the knee ahead of the front foot while placing pressure on the knee. You should instead take wider steps and push your heel into the ground to ensure your knee doesn't move ahead of your heel.

5. Raising elbows too high on the bench press
Doing so puts stress on your shoulders and causes injury. It also makes the exercise harder as the bar has to travel a longer distance. It's better to keep the elbows close to the chest to reduce some stress from shoulders and improve chest and triceps.

Remember, exercising has to be done in limit and as per one's capacity.

‘I Want To Stay At The Club’- This Chelsea Star Begs New Manager Sarri

David Luiz insists he has no intention of leaving Chelsea, expressing his love for the philosophy of new boss Maurizio Sarri.
The 31-year-old defender has been given a new lease of life, starting both of the Italian’s first games in charge having looked certain for the exit door under former boss Antonio Conte.
Luiz, who returned to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain for £32m in 2016, said: “I came back to Chelsea to stay.
“When I took my decision to come back here from Paris it was to win the Premier League and to do something again with Chelsea, so I am very happy here.
“I love Sarri’s philosophy. We play high, with a lot of possession in a technical way. He’s trying to help us every single day to learn quickly his philosophy.
“A new philosophy always takes time. But it also depends on us. If we’re dedicated every day and doing things every single day in training, we’re trying to learn quickly.”
Despite the uncertainty that Luiz has gone through over the last few months, he remains calm over ongoing reports that Chelsea are keen on signing some new defenders.
He added: “It is good to have fantastic players, more than just 11.
“You have many players that can play in the starting XI, so it is a positive challenge for everybody.”

Seven Quick And Easy Ways To Get Rid Of Hiccups

Hiccups are basically spasms of your diaphragm muscle and are not harmful, but until you find a cure, they can be extremely uncomfortable. You shouldn’t however be disturbed that you have hiccups, as you can follow these seven tips to get rid of your hiccups.

Eat Some Honey
Put 1 teaspoon of honey, stirred in warm water, on the back of your tongue, and swallow it. Honey could potentially tickle the vagus nerve to make the hiccups stop. More so, honey is also known to fight infection and soothe cough.

Yummy Chocolate
Getting rid of your hiccups never felt so good as it is a little more difficult with this method. Eat some powdered chocolate drink mix (milo, Bournvita or Ovaltine) right off the spoon. Swallowing the spoonful isn’t easy and should cure the hiccups.

Use A Brown Bag
Breathe slowly and deeply into a small paper bag. You should however stop if you feel light-headed at any point. Doing this helps to increase the carbon dioxide level in the blood and makes the diaphragm contract more deeply to bring in more oxygen, which may stop the hiccup spasms.

Eat Something Sweet
A spoonful of sugar is a popular hiccups cure because of the simple fact that the grains could slightly irritate the oesophagus, causing the phrenic nerves to “reset” themselves. There is however no concrete proof of this. although there is no proof of this.

Sour Foods or Drinks
Take a teaspoonful of vinegar. Its sour taste could cure your hiccup.

Have some peanut butter
A big spoonful of peanut butter is a classic cure if you have ever wondered how to get rid of hiccups. In the process of chewing and getting it off your tongue and teeth, your swallowing and breathing patterns are interrupted and this resets your pattern back to its normal state.

Use A Paper Towel
Place a single layer of paper towel over the top of a glass, then drink through the towel. You’ll have to “pull” harder with your diaphragm to suck up the water, and concentrated gulping counteracts spasmodic muscle movements of hiccups.

What Happened to the 12 Men Who Walked on the Moon?

Only a dozen men have walked on the surface of the moon, and this Friday marks the 49th anniversary of the groundbreaking Apollo 11 moon landing mission.

Of the 12 Americans who have set foot on the moon, only four are still alive.

From Apollo 11, the first lunar mission on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took that giant leap for mankind.

Armstrong, an astronaut and aeronautical engineer, retired from NASA in 1971, and served as a corporate spokesperson for several businesses. Though he had a reputation for being reclusive, Armstrong spoke at public events, hosted a science series and taught college. Armstrong died in 2012 at age 82.

Aldrin, who piloted the Apollo 11 mission, was the second man on the moon. He kept a higher public profile as an outspoken advocate for space exploration, including a manned missions to Mars.

Aldrin was a popular guest on the talk show circuit and even appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2010.

He became the oldest person to reach the South Pole at 86 years old in 2016, where he said he had a near-death experience.

Most recently, Aldrin drew headlines for a legal dispute with his children.

At 88 years old, Aldrin now makes his home in Florida.

Pete Conrad became the third person to walk on the moon in November 1969 as a part of the Apollo 12 mission. He retired from NASA in 1973 and worked in business. Conrad died in a motorcycle accident in California in 1999. He was 69.

Conrad’s Apollo 12 crewmate, Alan Bean, became the fourth man on the moon. He eventually logged 1,600 hours in space, serving in missions to Skylab and taking part in the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.

After retiring from NASA in 1981, he became a painter, incorporating pieces from his spacesuit patches in his paintings.

Bean died in Texas last May. He was 86.

Alan Shepard walked on the moon in February 1971 as a part of the Apollo 14 mission. He retired from NASA in 1974 and went on to work in banking and real estate, serve on non-profit boards and found what would later become the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.

He died of leukemia in 1998 at age 74.

Shepard’s crewmate on Apollo 14, Edgar Mitchell, became the sixth man to walk on the moon. After retiring from NASA in 1972, he helped found the Institute of Noetic Sciences, a non-profit organization in California that researches ESP and other psychic phenomena.

Mitchell died in Florida in 2016 at age 85.

Apollo 15 astronaut David Scott walked on the moon in both July and August 1971, but most notably became the first man to drive on the moon during the same mission. After retiring from NASA in 1977, he became a writer and consultant for books and documentaries about its space program. He now lives in Los Angeles, California.

James Irwin, who embarked on the same mission, became the eighth person to walk on the moon. He retired from NASA in 1972 and founded the High Flight Foundation, a Christian religious outreach organization.

Irwin died of a heart attack in 1991 at age 61, which made him the first of the moon men to die.

In April 1972, John Young became the ninth person to walk on the moon on the Apollo 16 mission. He later flew missions on the Space Shuttle Columbia and spent more than 40 years with NASA before retiring in 2004. Young died in January at 87 years old.

Charles Duke became the tenth man on the moon during the same Apollo 16 mission. He retired from NASA in 1975 and became active in prison ministry. Now at 82 years old, Duke lives in Texas and serves as chairman of the board of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.

Later that year, in December 1972, Eugene Cernan took his moon walk during the Apollo 17 mission. Not only was Cernan the 11th man on the list; his are the last footprints to be left on the surface of the moon.

He retired from NASA in 1976 and worked in private industry and occasionally served as the commentator for "Good Morning America." Cernan died in Texas in January 2017. He was 82.

The most recent living man to take steps on the moon was Harrison Schmitt, who was a geologist on the same Apollo 17 mission.

Schmitt retired from NASA in 1975 and went on to represent New Mexico in the U.S. Senate as a Republican for one term, starting the following year. He also taught at the university level and served as a business consultant.

At 83 years old, Smith now lives in New Mexico.

For the first time ever, Messi and Ronaldo have the same rating in FIFA

EA Sports has announced the top 10-rated players in FIFA 19, and Lionel Messi has the same overall rating as Cristiano Ronaldo - a first for the series.

Both players have dominated the FIFA series, as you'd expect, with both occupying the player ratings top spot at various points. But never before have both had the same overall rating.

This year both Messi and Ronaldo, considered by many to be the two best footballers to ever play the game, are rated 94. In FIFA 18, Messi was rated 93, one point behind Ronaldo.

Ronaldo retains his 94 rating as FIFA 19 cover star and a big money move to Juventus. Here's the official blurb:

"The FIFA 19 cover star's career has been packed with awards and trophies, but after his high-profile move to Juventus this season, it's clear that Ronaldo isn't done racking up silverware. The Portuguese forward continues to play like the world's best, and his ratings are evidence of an astoundingly talented player. Ronaldo beats defenders left and right when attacking, burning them with his 90 Pace and bamboozling them with a 90 Dribbling rating. But the most complete forward in football stands above the rest with a 93 Shooting rating, evidence of a natural finisher who puts away more chances than he misses on a regular basis."

As for Messi, he's enjoyed a one point bump to his overall rating. Here's his blurb, from EA Sports:

"Still going strong after years of breaking records and winning trophies, the Argentine attacker is undoubtedly one of the greatest to ever play the game. Messi's talents and skills make him extremely versatile; 96 Dribbling shows why his technique is the best in the world, and his 88 Passing rating gives him a playmaking ability that few others even come close to. Combine that with the 91 Shooting rating and it's easy to understand why Messi has broken nearly every possible goalscoring record. It all adds up to the recipe for a true football legend."

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, Milan forward Gonzalo Higuaín and Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer drop out of the top 10. Replacing them are Manchester City midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne, Real Madrid star Luka Modrić and Manchester United keeper David de Gea.

Here's the top 10:

1.Ronaldo
2.Messi
3.Neymar
4.Modrić
5.De Bruyne
6.Hazard
7.Ramos
8.Suarez
9.De Gea
10.Kroos
The top-rated Englishman is Spurs striker Harry Kane, who has enjoyed a post-World Cup ratings bump to 17th place at 89 (the only other Englishman in the top 100 is Manchester City's speedy winger Raheem Sterling, who is 97th and rated 85). You can see the whole top 100 in our big FIFA 19 player ratings list.

He has also been urged to be of good behavior in the remaining games he’s going to watch at the world cup if he is to avoid a possible stadium ban.

The 45-year-old claims he “stopped to make a parenthesis”.

He has been linked with taking over his country after the 2018 World Cup, claims he has now denied.

Nigerian Government Scraps HND Certificate, Makes New Rules For Polytechnics

Nigerian Government has scrapped Award of HND Certificates by Polytechnics.
The decision was reached at the Federal Executive Council, FEC, yesterday where the approval of a comprehensive reform of Nigeria’s tertiary education system was made.
In effect, the award of HND will be limited to only the students currently admitted for the programmes.
Also, all the programmes currently being run by polytechnics, which are not technology-based, and which are about 70 per cent, will be scrapped.
Under the new rule, the polytechnics will now become campuses of the proximate universities with the Vice Chancellors of those universities appointing provosts for the polytechnics, subject to the ratification of the Universities Councils.
The polytechnics will now be limited to award of the National Diploma (ND) while those desirous of further education will be awarded the Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) by the proximate university.
To kick-start the new policy, the nation’s two most prominent polytechnics – Yaba College of Technology and Kaduna Polytechnic – will henceforth be known as City University of Technology, Yaba and City University of Technology, Kaduna.
And to give legal teeth to these approvals, the FEC approved the submission of two Executive bills to the National Assembly for enactment.
With education being on the concurrent list, the states may wish to consolidate their tertiary institutions. But if they do not wish to follow the federal example, their programmes will continue to be regulated by the relevant agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The first bill will concretise the setting up of the two city universities while the second will approve the preparation and consolidation of all federal polytechnics and colleges of education as campuses of proximate universities.
The Ministry of Justice will do the preparation and submission of the two bills to the National Assembly.
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, told journalists after the weekly meeting of the council that under the reform measures, his ministry would, however, continue to license private polytechnics and colleges of education for the award of qualification at ND and National Certificate in Education (NCE) levels.
He said,Quote“There will be no more award of HND.
“After we have exhausted the current students under the programme, there will be no more award of HND. This means that there will be no fresh admission for HND programmes. And in addition, any programme that is not technical will be out of the polytechnics.
“About 70 per cent of polytechnic graduates are in the non-technical courses. It is going to be a rigorous implementation programme.”
A ministerial committee to ensure the smooth implementation of all that is required for the take-off of the reform initiatives is to begin work immediately.
Adamu said, “The HND certificate will remain a legal tender in Nigeria and holders of such certificate will continue to be recognised as the equivalent of first degree holders without discriminatory remunerations and limit to progression in the work place.
“The NCE certificate will be retained as the minimum teaching qualification at the basic level of education. Any higher qualifications by these private or state-owned polytechnics will be only affiliation with a university. So, HND is no longer in existence, but existing HND will be respected and considered legal tender.”

Islamic group, MURIC, orders Falz to take down ''This is Nigeria'' video within 7 days or............

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has asked rapper Folarin Falana aka Falz to withdraw his ‘This is Nigeria’ video and apologise to Muslims for using girls dressed in Hijab in the video or face legal action within the next 7 days.

Falz has explained that he used the ladies in Hijab to push more awareness about the Chibok girls still in Boko Haram captivity and the need to rescue them as soon as possible.

In a statement released by MURIC's director Ishaq Akintola, the group  said the dancers in the video in no way depict the situation of the Chibok girls. The group described the video as “thoughtless, insensitive and highly provocative,”

“MURIC rejects Falz’ explanation that the girls in hijab in his ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance symbolize the Chibok girls because nothing in the video indicates that the girls represent the Chibok girls. At least none of the Chibok girls have been seen dancing like a drunkard. They are always in pensive mood. Do they have any cause to be dancing? Are they happy? The video manifests ethnic bias against Fulanis while it ignored the criminal activities of ethnic militia of the Middle Belt who have also massacred Fulanis and rustled their cattle in their thousands. It is a hate video. This video has the potential of causing religious crisis of unprecedented dimension. It is an assault on the self-dignity of every Muslim. It is freedom of expression gone haywire. We therefore demand its withdrawal and an apology to Nigerian Muslims within seven days or the authors and their agents will face legal action if they fail to comply. Only the scenes portraying police brutality and the money-swallowing snake in the video are near the truth.” the statement read

The group called on the National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to ban the video.

“We call the attention of security agencies to this hate action. We remind Nigerians of the outcome of similar provocative actions in the past and their unpalatable outcomes. The National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB), a regulatory agency set up by Act No. 85 of 1993 to regulate films and the video industry has a case to answer. ‘Shaku Shaku’ video was shot and released under its watch. Instead of going violent, Nigerian Muslims should take those behind the ‘Shaku Shaku’ video to court in order to serve as a deterrent to others. We therefore give notice of impending legal action against the artist behind the ‘Shaku Shaku’ video unless the latter is withdrawn and an apology is widely published within seven days.” the statement read.

Scientists reveal how Michael Jackson was able to tilt 45 degrees...

Michael Jackson is the king of pop—No debate. And he defied gravity in his ‘Smooth Criminal video’ dance move.

Michael Jackson’s gravity-defying Smooth Criminal dance move, however, was down to core strength and an illusion, scientists have found.

The famous late singer was being able to tilt 45 degrees, seemingly without anything to hold him up.

Fans were amazed to see him do the dance move in his 1987 Smooth Criminal video. Not only that but had seen him perform a similar stunt on live shows.
Michael Jackson defied gravity in his ‘Smooth Criminal video’ dance move
A team of neurosurgeons, however, has cracked the mystery behind the seemingly impossible feat.

These three surgeons revealed in the Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine that Jackson designed a special shoe with a triangular slot in the heel which hooked onto a metallic peg that came up from the stage floor at the right moment.

This, according to the scientists, allowed him to lean forward at a seemingly impossible angle without collapsing. They also noted that Jackson did have very good core strength.
The Scientists explained how Michael Jackson was able to do the tilt. Picture: Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine
Long-time Jackson fan Nishant Yagnick, from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India, led the research.

“Several MJ fans, including the authors, have tried to copy this move and failed, often injuring themselves in their endeavors,” they wrote.
The king of pop was known for his impressive dance moves
The scientists explained that most trained dancers can achieve no more than 25 to 30 degrees of forwarding tilt.

A strain is shifted from the erector spine muscles which support the spinal column to the Achilles tendon.

“This allows for a very limited degree of forward bending from the ankle joints, while keeping a stiff straight posture – unless you are Michael Jackson,” they said.

“MJ pulled off a gravity-defying 45-degree move that seems unearthly to any witness.”

The authors said that despite the illusion, Jackson’s physical abilities were still very impressive.

“Even with specially designed footwear and the support of the hitch member, the move is incredibly hard to pull off, requiring athletic core strength from strengthened spinal muscles and lower-limb anti-gravity muscles,” they added.

Guess Who Arsenal named As Successor to Arsene Wenger

New Arsenal head coach Unai Emery was the "unanimous" choice to "drive the next chapter" at the club, says chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

Emery, 46, joins the Gunners having left French champions PSG after guiding them to the Ligue 1 title.

The Spaniard also won four domestic cups with the French giants, having previously steered Sevilla to three successive Europa League triumphs.

He succeeds Frenchman Arsene Wenger, who has left after 22 years in charge.

"Unai has an outstanding track record of success throughout his career, has developed some of the best young talent in Europe and plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly," Gazidis added.

"His hard-working and passionate approach and his sense of values on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward."

What did Emery say?
Manchester City assistant manager and former Gunners captain Mikel Arteta was a strong favourite to replace Wenger, but Emery - who has a limited command of English - was selected following the Gunners' recruitment process.

He will lead Arsenal into a new era following the departure of 68-year-old Wenger, who won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups - including two Doubles - with the club.

"I'm very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal's history," said Emery.

"I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game. Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run.

"I'm excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories."

What has he achieved?
Emery announced last month he would leave PSG when his contract expired at the end of the season, despite leading them to the Ligue 1 title.

During his two-year spell with the French giants, he also won four domestic cups, having joined from Sevilla in 2016.

It was in his home country that the former Real Sociedad and Toledo midfielder made his name as a manager, taking charge at Almeria and Valencia before moving to Sevilla in 2013.

There he won three successive Europa League titles as well as finishing runners-up to Barcelona in the 2015-16 Copa del Rey.

With a rebuilding job needed at Emirates Stadium following Arsenal's sixth-place finish in the Premier League, his meticulous, hands-on coaching may well be just what the Gunners need.

What is his style?

French football writer Julien Laurens

Emery will get Arsenal more organised than they have been. He's really keen on drills and discipline, worked PSG hard at training and has got a very good idea of what he wants to do.

His first game at PSG was the 2016 Trophee des Champions - the French Community Shield - against Lyon and they won 4-1. PSG played with an intensity they never had before. It looked like his philosophy - pressing high, running a lot, attacking a lot, defending a lot, full backs bombing forward.

But then the players said they should go back to what they know because they were used to tiki-taka football where they took their time.

Emery had to evolve a bit to accommodate his players, when it shouldn't have been like that - it should've been the players accommodating his philosophy.

If the Arsenal players are on board with what he wants to do, that's how he won three straight Europa Leagues, because that Sevilla team were all on board.

Really Hilarious

A boss said to his secretary, “I want to have S.X with you. I will make it very fast. I’ll throw $1000 on the floor, by the time you bend down to pick it I’ll be done.”
She thought for a moment then called her boyfriend and told him the story. Her boyfriend then said to her, “Do it but ask him for $2000, then pick up the money so quickly that he wouldn’t even have enough time to undress himself.” So she agrees.
Half an hour goes by, the boyfriend decides to call girlfriend, he asks, “What happened?”
She responds, “The Bastard used coins I’m still picking

Serena Williams reveals why her dad pulled out of walking her down aisle just an hour before wedding ceremony

On the day tennis champion, Serena Williams married Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, she walked down the aisle alone though her father is alive and they have a cordial relationship. She has now explained why that was the case.

The mother-of-one said that just one hour before her wedding on 16 November 2017, she received a text from her father, Richard Williams, saying he couldn't do it. In her new HBO documentary called Being Serena, the tennis superstar said her father and former longtime coach told her in the message that he didn't feel comfortable giving her away.

Serena explains in the documentary: "He was in New Orleans, he had a suit, and I know he was really excited.

"But then he wrote me and said, 'Serena, I don't want you to be mad at me, but I just can't walk you down the aisle. I'm not myself anymore. I'm just too nervous.'"

But Serena wasn't angry with her dad and didn't panic, instead, she remained calm and completely supportive of his decision.

She replied: "Daddy, it's okay, if you don't want to come to the wedding at all, that's okay too. I'm not going to be upset with you about it, so I don't want you to be upset about it."

Serena added that some people may have reacted differently, but she knows the struggles her dad, who suffered a stroke in 2016, had been through over the last few years. She said what was important was that her close family understood their bond.

If he doesn't want to be up there in front of a lot of people, I completely understand. Look, when we first came on the scene, there were a lot of people who didn't get him.

I don't think a lot of them wanted to get him. I don't think a lot of him could have anyway. Our family knows what we have.

We just want each other to be happy. That's what matters. I don't think anything could ever change that

A Pastor With The Redeemed Christian Church of God Stunned His Congregation When He Suddenly Ran Away From The Pulpit.

The members of RCCG City of David, Victoria Island were taught a serious lesson some time ago when something dramatic happened.

The Lead Pastor, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade had decided to teach his congregation the subtle lesson on fear and in the most dramatic means possible.

YNaija reports that it was Digging Deep service at church and Pastor Idowu had began his sermon by reading a particular scripture until he stopped midway and ran off the stage. In a matter of seconds, the rather disturbed congregation and pastors too, were on their feet running.

A few seconds later, after he must felt that his point had been aptly illustrated, he called the church to order, announcing that it was only a game. Pastor Idowu, afterwards read from Psalm 91 and taught on the how the knowledge of the truth of God’s word safeguards one from fear.

The illustration was too accurate, showing how much people, Christians especially respond to fear (even in spiritual gatherings).

Although the video is not a recent one, it still remains very relevant.

What Happened When We Met Tekno – Danfo Drivers

Contrary to popular opinion, Tekno did not pay a compensation to Danfo Drivers for using their material on his single Jogodo.
Following the release of Jogodo, Danfo Driver called out Tekno in an interview for sampling their song without permission and threatened to take actions against him if he did not make moves to correct his wrongs. Tekno reacted fast to the video and he reached out to his senior colleagues. He even shared a picture of him spending time with them on his Instagram page, sending a message that they have reconciled and it was rumored that he compensated them with money.

According to GoldmyneTV, one of the members of the Danfo Drivers group, Mountain Black admitted that indeed Tekno has been forgiven after he visited them in Abuja. But, he cleared the wrong notion that they were paid.

“We didn’t collect any money from Tekno; you can ask him. The deed has been done; we cannot reverse it any longer. He planned to release the video of the song last week. He asked if he could go ahead and we gave him our permission. But I told him we could do a remix later”, he said.

According to the report, Mountain Black said that they reacted angrily because Tekno did not treat them well. He revealed that they had earlier agreed that they would see at the Eko Hotel in Lagos after the Headies Award but Tekno refused to pick their calls.

“Why would you release a job without telling the owner of the song? When he called that he wanted to see us, I told him we were busy but we should meet at the Headies and he said it was okay. We were invited for the Headies at the Eko Hotel and he lives very close. On that day, we called him and he was not picking up. That was why I granted an interview where I said we were looking for Tekno.

“Last week Wednesday, he called that he was coming to see us in Abuja. So, he came down to Abuja and apologised for what he did. I told him we were not interested in his money but we wanted him to work together with us as a team”, he said.

Mountain Black further stated that the rush to release materials is the reason why artistes of this generation like Tekno, resort to remaking past songs.

“When we started music, we were not in a rush to make it big like they do now. We took our time to release evergreen songs. But all the songs they do nowadays don’t stand the test of time. I suspect that most of the new generation artistes are short of ideas – that is why they tap from our past works. But a lot of things are happing in the country that they can sing about. We still have bad government as well as the use of drugs and codeine by the youth,” he said to close the interview.

Family of five chased by cheetahs at safari park

May 11 (UPI) -- A family of five who got out of their car at a safari park in the Netherlands had a close call when they were chased back to their vehicle by cheetahs.

Video filmed by witnesses in another car at the Beekse Bergen Safari Park shows the family, which includes very small children, getting out of their car to get a closer look at some cheetahs lounging nearby.

The family returns to their car moments later without incident and drive a ways up the road, where they again get out of their vehicle.

The cheetahs, which apparently followed the vehicle up the road, then appear and aggressively chase the people back to the road, where they quickly get back into the car.

A woman carrying one of the small children manages to get back to the car moments after a cheetah lunges at her.

Niels de Wildt, a manager at the safari park, said guests are warned in multiple languages not to get out of their vehicles on park grounds.

"The cheetahs are on a food schedule so they are not extremely hungry and are not in the hunt," de Wildt told Netherlands broadcaster NOS.

"In the first instance they have the same reaction as when someone rings in unexpectedly, they think: 'Hey, something strange is happening in our territory,'" he said. "But in the end they do respond to this exceptional visit, and these people have been incredibly lucky."

Heartbreaking! Pretty Student Shot Dead By Unknown Assailant Few Weeks To Her 22nd Birthday (Photos)

A 21-year-old pretty lady identified as Jabulile Nhlapo, who has just enrolled for a Bachelor of Education Degree with the University of South Africa, has been shot dead and was found lying in a pool of her blood.

According to a shocking online report, the former Human Resources intern who was set to celebrate her 22nd birthday on June 4, saw her life was cut short tragically and mysteriously when she was shot dead by an unknown assailant who gained entry at her student commune on Tuesday.

The deceased's 26-year-old cousin, Lettia Tshibase, who spoke with The Sowetan, disclosed that they were planning a surprise birthday party for her next month, but their efforts would now go in preparing to bury her.
"Her mother and I thought we would surprise her with a party, but we are here collecting her belongings and making funeral arrangements," Tshibase said.

She described Nhlapo as a charismatic and ambitious person. She said the family did not want to speculate what could have been the motive for Nhlapo's murder.
"We were speaking on WhatsApp during the day and she said she wanted to rest for a bit. I was shocked when I received a message a few hours later that she was killed."

Nhlapo's grandmother, Susan Rantabane said she was bitterly upset at her granddaughter's killing.

"Jabu had a bright future ahead of her. She was studying education through Unisa and was an intern at Emfuleni municipality. She didn't deserve to be killed like this. She wanted to make something out of her life by teaching,"  Rantabane said.

Nhlapo's friend, who asked not to be named, said it appeared the 21-year-old was gunned down by someone she knew.

"We heard that there was a guy who was lurking in the street where she lived. He eventually came across someone who knew Jabu and that person showed him where she stayed," said the friend.
"The students who live in the commune with her said they didn't hear the gunshot. They thought it was a pot's lid falling on the floor and only realised when police knocked on their door about 30 minutes [later]," said the student.
