Scientists reveal how Michael Jackson was able to tilt 45 degrees...

Michael Jackson is the king of pop—No debate. And he defied gravity in his ‘Smooth Criminal video’ dance move.

Michael Jackson’s gravity-defying Smooth Criminal dance move, however, was down to core strength and an illusion, scientists have found.

The famous late singer was being able to tilt 45 degrees, seemingly without anything to hold him up.

Fans were amazed to see him do the dance move in his 1987 Smooth Criminal video. Not only that but had seen him perform a similar stunt on live shows.

A team of neurosurgeons, however, has cracked the mystery behind the seemingly impossible feat.

These three surgeons revealed in the Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine that Jackson designed a special shoe with a triangular slot in the heel which hooked onto a metallic peg that came up from the stage floor at the right moment.

This, according to the scientists, allowed him to lean forward at a seemingly impossible angle without collapsing. They also noted that Jackson did have very good core strength.
The Scientists explained how Michael Jackson was able to do the tilt. Picture: Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine
Long-time Jackson fan Nishant Yagnick, from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India, led the research.

“Several MJ fans, including the authors, have tried to copy this move and failed, often injuring themselves in their endeavors,” they wrote.
The king of pop was known for his impressive dance moves
The scientists explained that most trained dancers can achieve no more than 25 to 30 degrees of forwarding tilt.

A strain is shifted from the erector spine muscles which support the spinal column to the Achilles tendon.

“This allows for a very limited degree of forward bending from the ankle joints, while keeping a stiff straight posture – unless you are Michael Jackson,” they said.

“MJ pulled off a gravity-defying 45-degree move that seems unearthly to any witness.”

The authors said that despite the illusion, Jackson’s physical abilities were still very impressive.

“Even with specially designed footwear and the support of the hitch member, the move is incredibly hard to pull off, requiring athletic core strength from strengthened spinal muscles and lower-limb anti-gravity muscles,” they added.

Some twitter users responded with praised for the young man who was slapped while some felt he should have taught the errant lady a lesson.

Guess Who Arsenal named As Successor to Arsene Wenger

New Arsenal head coach Unai Emery was the "unanimous" choice to "drive the next chapter" at the club, says chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

Emery, 46, joins the Gunners having left French champions PSG after guiding them to the Ligue 1 title.

The Spaniard also won four domestic cups with the French giants, having previously steered Sevilla to three successive Europa League triumphs.

He succeeds Frenchman Arsene Wenger, who has left after 22 years in charge.

"Unai has an outstanding track record of success throughout his career, has developed some of the best young talent in Europe and plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly," Gazidis added.

"His hard-working and passionate approach and his sense of values on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward."

What did Emery say?
Manchester City assistant manager and former Gunners captain Mikel Arteta was a strong favourite to replace Wenger, but Emery - who has a limited command of English - was selected following the Gunners' recruitment process.

He will lead Arsenal into a new era following the departure of 68-year-old Wenger, who won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups - including two Doubles - with the club.

"I'm very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal's history," said Emery.

"I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game. Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run.

"I'm excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories."

What has he achieved?
Emery announced last month he would leave PSG when his contract expired at the end of the season, despite leading them to the Ligue 1 title.

During his two-year spell with the French giants, he also won four domestic cups, having joined from Sevilla in 2016.

It was in his home country that the former Real Sociedad and Toledo midfielder made his name as a manager, taking charge at Almeria and Valencia before moving to Sevilla in 2013.

There he won three successive Europa League titles as well as finishing runners-up to Barcelona in the 2015-16 Copa del Rey.

With a rebuilding job needed at Emirates Stadium following Arsenal's sixth-place finish in the Premier League, his meticulous, hands-on coaching may well be just what the Gunners need.

What is his style?

French football writer Julien Laurens

Emery will get Arsenal more organised than they have been. He's really keen on drills and discipline, worked PSG hard at training and has got a very good idea of what he wants to do.

His first game at PSG was the 2016 Trophee des Champions - the French Community Shield - against Lyon and they won 4-1. PSG played with an intensity they never had before. It looked like his philosophy - pressing high, running a lot, attacking a lot, defending a lot, full backs bombing forward.

But then the players said they should go back to what they know because they were used to tiki-taka football where they took their time.

Emery had to evolve a bit to accommodate his players, when it shouldn't have been like that - it should've been the players accommodating his philosophy.

If the Arsenal players are on board with what he wants to do, that's how he won three straight Europa Leagues, because that Sevilla team were all on board.

Really Hilarious

A boss said to his secretary, “I want to have S.X with you. I will make it very fast. I’ll throw $1000 on the floor, by the time you bend down to pick it I’ll be done.”
She thought for a moment then called her boyfriend and told him the story. Her boyfriend then said to her, “Do it but ask him for $2000, then pick up the money so quickly that he wouldn’t even have enough time to undress himself.” So she agrees.
Half an hour goes by, the boyfriend decides to call girlfriend, he asks, “What happened?”
She responds, “The Bastard used coins I’m still picking

Serena Williams reveals why her dad pulled out of walking her down aisle just an hour before wedding ceremony

On the day tennis champion, Serena Williams married Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, she walked down the aisle alone though her father is alive and they have a cordial relationship. She has now explained why that was the case.

The mother-of-one said that just one hour before her wedding on 16 November 2017, she received a text from her father, Richard Williams, saying he couldn't do it. In her new HBO documentary called Being Serena, the tennis superstar said her father and former longtime coach told her in the message that he didn't feel comfortable giving her away.

Serena explains in the documentary: "He was in New Orleans, he had a suit, and I know he was really excited.

"But then he wrote me and said, 'Serena, I don't want you to be mad at me, but I just can't walk you down the aisle. I'm not myself anymore. I'm just too nervous.'"

But Serena wasn't angry with her dad and didn't panic, instead, she remained calm and completely supportive of his decision.

She replied: "Daddy, it's okay, if you don't want to come to the wedding at all, that's okay too. I'm not going to be upset with you about it, so I don't want you to be upset about it."

Serena added that some people may have reacted differently, but she knows the struggles her dad, who suffered a stroke in 2016, had been through over the last few years. She said what was important was that her close family understood their bond.

If he doesn't want to be up there in front of a lot of people, I completely understand. Look, when we first came on the scene, there were a lot of people who didn't get him.

I don't think a lot of them wanted to get him. I don't think a lot of him could have anyway. Our family knows what we have.

We just want each other to be happy. That's what matters. I don't think anything could ever change that

A Pastor With The Redeemed Christian Church of God Stunned His Congregation When He Suddenly Ran Away From The Pulpit.

The members of RCCG City of David, Victoria Island were taught a serious lesson some time ago when something dramatic happened.

The Lead Pastor, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade had decided to teach his congregation the subtle lesson on fear and in the most dramatic means possible.

YNaija reports that it was Digging Deep service at church and Pastor Idowu had began his sermon by reading a particular scripture until he stopped midway and ran off the stage. In a matter of seconds, the rather disturbed congregation and pastors too, were on their feet running.

A few seconds later, after he must felt that his point had been aptly illustrated, he called the church to order, announcing that it was only a game. Pastor Idowu, afterwards read from Psalm 91 and taught on the how the knowledge of the truth of God’s word safeguards one from fear.

The illustration was too accurate, showing how much people, Christians especially respond to fear (even in spiritual gatherings).

Although the video is not a recent one, it still remains very relevant.

What Happened When We Met Tekno – Danfo Drivers

Contrary to popular opinion, Tekno did not pay a compensation to Danfo Drivers for using their material on his single Jogodo.
Following the release of Jogodo, Danfo Driver called out Tekno in an interview for sampling their song without permission and threatened to take actions against him if he did not make moves to correct his wrongs. Tekno reacted fast to the video and he reached out to his senior colleagues. He even shared a picture of him spending time with them on his Instagram page, sending a message that they have reconciled and it was rumored that he compensated them with money.

According to GoldmyneTV, one of the members of the Danfo Drivers group, Mountain Black admitted that indeed Tekno has been forgiven after he visited them in Abuja. But, he cleared the wrong notion that they were paid.

“We didn’t collect any money from Tekno; you can ask him. The deed has been done; we cannot reverse it any longer. He planned to release the video of the song last week. He asked if he could go ahead and we gave him our permission. But I told him we could do a remix later”, he said.

According to the report, Mountain Black said that they reacted angrily because Tekno did not treat them well. He revealed that they had earlier agreed that they would see at the Eko Hotel in Lagos after the Headies Award but Tekno refused to pick their calls.

“Why would you release a job without telling the owner of the song? When he called that he wanted to see us, I told him we were busy but we should meet at the Headies and he said it was okay. We were invited for the Headies at the Eko Hotel and he lives very close. On that day, we called him and he was not picking up. That was why I granted an interview where I said we were looking for Tekno.

“Last week Wednesday, he called that he was coming to see us in Abuja. So, he came down to Abuja and apologised for what he did. I told him we were not interested in his money but we wanted him to work together with us as a team”, he said.

Mountain Black further stated that the rush to release materials is the reason why artistes of this generation like Tekno, resort to remaking past songs.

“When we started music, we were not in a rush to make it big like they do now. We took our time to release evergreen songs. But all the songs they do nowadays don’t stand the test of time. I suspect that most of the new generation artistes are short of ideas – that is why they tap from our past works. But a lot of things are happing in the country that they can sing about. We still have bad government as well as the use of drugs and codeine by the youth,” he said to close the interview.

Family of five chased by cheetahs at safari park

May 11 (UPI) -- A family of five who got out of their car at a safari park in the Netherlands had a close call when they were chased back to their vehicle by cheetahs.

Video filmed by witnesses in another car at the Beekse Bergen Safari Park shows the family, which includes very small children, getting out of their car to get a closer look at some cheetahs lounging nearby.

The family returns to their car moments later without incident and drive a ways up the road, where they again get out of their vehicle.

The cheetahs, which apparently followed the vehicle up the road, then appear and aggressively chase the people back to the road, where they quickly get back into the car.

A woman carrying one of the small children manages to get back to the car moments after a cheetah lunges at her.

Niels de Wildt, a manager at the safari park, said guests are warned in multiple languages not to get out of their vehicles on park grounds.

"The cheetahs are on a food schedule so they are not extremely hungry and are not in the hunt," de Wildt told Netherlands broadcaster NOS.

"In the first instance they have the same reaction as when someone rings in unexpectedly, they think: 'Hey, something strange is happening in our territory,'" he said. "But in the end they do respond to this exceptional visit, and these people have been incredibly lucky."

Heartbreaking! Pretty Student Shot Dead By Unknown Assailant Few Weeks To Her 22nd Birthday (Photos)

A 21-year-old pretty lady identified as Jabulile Nhlapo, who has just enrolled for a Bachelor of Education Degree with the University of South Africa, has been shot dead and was found lying in a pool of her blood.

According to a shocking online report, the former Human Resources intern who was set to celebrate her 22nd birthday on June 4, saw her life was cut short tragically and mysteriously when she was shot dead by an unknown assailant who gained entry at her student commune on Tuesday.

The deceased's 26-year-old cousin, Lettia Tshibase, who spoke with The Sowetan, disclosed that they were planning a surprise birthday party for her next month, but their efforts would now go in preparing to bury her.
"Her mother and I thought we would surprise her with a party, but we are here collecting her belongings and making funeral arrangements," Tshibase said.

She described Nhlapo as a charismatic and ambitious person. She said the family did not want to speculate what could have been the motive for Nhlapo's murder.
"We were speaking on WhatsApp during the day and she said she wanted to rest for a bit. I was shocked when I received a message a few hours later that she was killed."

Nhlapo's grandmother, Susan Rantabane said she was bitterly upset at her granddaughter's killing.

"Jabu had a bright future ahead of her. She was studying education through Unisa and was an intern at Emfuleni municipality. She didn't deserve to be killed like this. She wanted to make something out of her life by teaching,"  Rantabane said.

Nhlapo's friend, who asked not to be named, said it appeared the 21-year-old was gunned down by someone she knew.

"We heard that there was a guy who was lurking in the street where she lived. He eventually came across someone who knew Jabu and that person showed him where she stayed," said the friend.
"The students who live in the commune with her said they didn't hear the gunshot. They thought it was a pot's lid falling on the floor and only realised when police knocked on their door about 30 minutes [later]," said the student.

No more School Fees: FG declares tuition free at All Federal Universities

According to the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday, no federal university should charge tuition fees. The Minister of State for Education, Anthony Anwuka, stated this while briefing State House correspondents after the cabinet meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Daily Trusts reports that the minister said the council discussed the school fees being charged by various universities “and noted that as of law, no federal university should charge tuition fees.”
Anwuka, also stated that the council understood that some federal universities charged fees per course unit, saying that the government would investigate and make sure it is stopped. The minister said the National Universities Commission had been directed to clarify and update the council on the matter.

“We understand some universities now charge fees per course unit and we are going to make sure that we investigate that properly and make it stop.

“Students can pay other auxiliary fees, but not in excess. Various university councils and management should be able to fix what fees students should pay that is affordable and acceptable to the students. That is the position.

“The federal government does not determine fees for private and state universities. It only takes responsibility for fees paid in the federal universities.”

The council has approved the insurance of provisional licence for the the establishment of Skyline University in Kano, the minister noted

Man resumes substance abuse a few months after being rescued by an old classmate

Sometimes, you can only do so much to help a person before they can help themselves. This is the exact case with the now famous Wanja Mwaura.

On Tuesday, May 1, Kenyans were thrown into a state of despair after Wanja shared the disheartening news that her former classmate whom she had saved from the streets and rehabilitated, was reverting back to his old ways.

NAIJ.com extensively reported of the inspirational story of how Wanja met a dismal street urchin known as Hinga who happened to be her childhood friend.

Wanja became an instant heroine after rescuing Hinga from the streets.

She had gone on to facilitate the rehab process of the street urchin who at the time was terribly hooked to hard drugs.

As if it wasn't noble enough, she mobilised funds to set up a shop for Hinga so he could be able to find some financial footing once he left rehab in January 2018.

Hinga had a shop set up for him. Months on and it was hard to recognise Hinga as he had transformed from a dilapidated street boy to a man who looked ready to get his life back together.

However, the tale of Hinga was still set to have another unexpected twist as Wanja recently revelead on Facebook.

In a post, the lady revealed that she had received news that Hinga was relapsing and was seen munching down on khat (miraa) in Wangige.

“Hi good people of Wangige. I have been informed that Hinga has had a relapse and he's back in Wangige chewing miraa. We did our best but it seems,...Anyway I don't know what to say” she revealed on Tuesday.

Despair as former street boy who was rescued by former classmate reverts to drugs.

She further stated that she was lost for words because of the immense support she had offered her childhood friend only for him to relapse.

Kenyans attempted to urge her to reach out to the man once again but Wanja revealed she was physically incapable of doing so as she herself was struggling to recover from an accident she was recently involved in.

We further learnt that the relapse might possible be due to an issue which Hinga might be struggling with.

Death Will Be Optional By The Year 2045

DYING will be 'optional' within just 27 years and the ageing process will be 'reversible', according to two genetic engineers during the presentation of their new book in Barcelona.

José Luis Cordeiro, born in Venezuela to Spanish parents, and Cambridge (UK) mathematician David Wood, founders of the operating system 'Symbian', have just published The Death of Death and say immortality is a real and scientific possibility that could come much earlier than originally thought.

Humans will only die in accidents, never of natural causes or illness, by around the year 2045, say Cordeiro and Wood, who say it is 'crucial' that old age starts to be classified as an 'illness' so that publicly-funded research into its 'cure' can extend.

Nanotechnology is key, among other new genetic manipulation techniques, the engineers said during the presentation at Barcelona's Equestrian Circle.

The process will involve turning 'bad' genes into healthy ones, eliminating dead cells from the body, repairing damaged cells, treatments with stem cells and 'printing' vital organs in 3D.

Cordeiro, who is based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA, says he has 'chosen not to die' and that in 30 years' time, he will be 'younger than he is today'.

Ageing is the result of DNA 'tails', known as 'telomeres', in chromosomes – of which every cell except red blood and sex cells has 23 pairs – becoming shorter, and reversing ageing involves lengthening the telomeres.

Telomeres become damaged and shortened with the passage of time, a process that speeds up in the event of toxins entering the body – smoking, alcohol and air pollution are among elements that reduce the length of telomeres, thus accelerating ageing.

Cordeiro and Wood believe that within 10 years, illnesses such as cancer will be curable, and that major international corporations such as Google will be 'entering the field of medicine' because they are 'beginning to realise that curing ageing is possible'.

Microsoft has reportedly already announced the setting up of a cryopreservation centre in which a scientist is researching the possibility of cancer being completely curable within a decade.

The engineers explain that, although 'people generally do not know about it', it was discovered in 1951 how cancer cells are immortal: when Henrietta Lacks died from cervical cancer, surgeons removed the tumour and kept it – and it is still 'alive' today.

Immortality will not necessarily mean the planet becomes overcrowded, the scientists say: there is still plenty of room for more people on Earth, and these days, people do not have anywhere near as many children as they did in past decades and centuries; plus, 'it will be possible to live in space by then'.

“Japan and the Koreas, if they continue with their current trend of hardly having any children, will become extinct – within two centuries, there'll be no Japanese or Korean people on the planet,” Cordeiro says.

“But thanks to these new techniques, there will indeed be Japanese and Korean people, because they'll live forever and remain young.”

The cost of anti-ageing treatment was compared to that of the latest SmartPhones.

“At first, it'll be expensive, but with a competitive market the price will gradually fall because it'll be something that benefits everyone,” Cordeiro says.

“Technology, when it's new, is poor and extremely expensive, but it eventually becomes democratic and mainstream and becomes cheaper.”

The engineers say they have already been employing their techniques for two years – illegally, but in Colombia where there are fewer regulations covering genetic manipulation.

Elisabeth Parrish, their first human patient, 'started to see symptoms of ageing and asked what could be done to prevent it'.

Her treatment is 'very risky and even illegal', Wood explains, but at the moment is going well, has not had any adverse side-effects, and the level of telomeres in her blood is '20 years younger than before'.

“I want Spain to have a place in the world of these technologies and show that we're not mad, it's just that people still don't know about them,” Wood concluded.

The Death of Death will eventually be published in four languages at first – Spanish, English, Portuguese and Korean – and all proceeds from its sales will be ploughed back into the authors' research.

Jackie Chan’s teenage daughter left homeless and living under a bridge after family disowned her

Jackie Chan’s 18-year-old daughter has said that she’s been left homeless and living under a bridge with her partner because of her family’s homophobia.

Etta Ng, who is estranged from Chan, posted a video on YouTube with girlfriend Andi Autumn, which was scathing of her friends and family.

“We’ve been homeless for a month due to homophobic parents. We pretty much slept under a bridge, and other things,” she said.“We’ve gone to the police, we’ve gone to the hospitals, the food banks, the LGBTQ community shelters and all of them just don’t give a s**t.“We don’t know what to do at this point. We just want to let people know what’s going on because at this point it seems ridiculous that no one can help. I don’t understand.”

Autumn added:

“We will have to be split up if we go to any kind of government facility.”

Ng is the daughter Chan had with Elaine Ng Yi-Lei, a former Miss Asia, with whom Chan had an affair in 1998 while married to current wife, Joan Lin.

However, Ng’s mother has slammed the video.

She told Hong Kong website Coconuts:

“Etta has emotional problems. She was seeing a doctor last year, but she hasn’t gone to therapy since she left Hong Kong.”

Ng Yi-Lei also blames Autumn for the pair’s predicament.

“She’s already 30-something and is a teacher with working experience,” she said. “How can she tell an 18-year-old girl to film such a video? It’s wrong.

“I feel that if they have no money, they should go find work. They shouldn’t film a clip telling others they are broke and who Etta’s father is. People all over the world work hard and don’t rely on someone else’s fame to get money.

“Many people in Hong Kong get paid low wages, but they still go to work. If they don’t have work, then they’ll film these videos to complain about their parents? How many of these videos would we see in a day then?”

According to reports, Chan has never spoken publicly about his daughter, but has previously acknowledged having had an affair with Ng Yi-Lei.

Ng told the Daily Express in 2015 that Chan ‘never existed in my life’.

“He is not my dad. I have no feelings for him. He is my biological father but he is not in my life,” she said.

“I would not say that he is my dad. I would say, ‘Oh, Jackie Chan, an actor’. I will never regard him as a father.”

Ng came out on Instagram in October last year, later confirming that she was seeing Autumn, a social media influencer from Canada.

Michael Hodge, 72, the owner of Marakele Predator Centre "bottle-raised" Shamba the lion since birth. Hodge broke his jaw and sustained injuries to his neck during the attack.

Family spokesperson Bernadette Maguire told News24 on Wednesday morning that Hodge was recovering in hospital, but he was still traumatised after the incident.

"He is very upset about the loss of Shamba and I think he is trying to put up a brave face, but he is really battling to come to terms [with] what has happened," Maguire said.

Maguire said Hodge was able to walk for the first time since the incident with the aid of a physiotherapist at Milpark hospital.

"The prognosis is looking good, provided that his infection stays under control. His wounds have been left open in order to ensure that the infection does not set into his body."

She said the family was relieved that Hodge was "okay", however, they were also traumatised by the loss of Shamba.

The family owned Shamba for 10 years.

In a short video clip, Hodge is seen walking behind the lion in a den.

Buhari President Finally Explains Comment On Lazy Nigerian Youths.

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally explained what he meant by remarks he recently made about Nigerian youths that led to widespread criticism while he was away in London.
While speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, President Buhari remarked that a lot of Nigerian youths wait on handouts from the government.

"More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven't been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free," he said.

Even though the comment was interpreted as a dismissal of the work ethic of most Nigerian youths and drew criticism from political opponents and the public, the president has never directly explained his remarks.

However, while speaking during an interview with Voice of America, Hausa service, in Washington, United States on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, the president said his words were misinterpreted by the media who love to do what they like.

He explained, "You know Nigeria's population is now between 180 and 190 million and 60 per cent of this population is youth that is 30 years downward.

"You know in the North most youths are uneducated or school dropouts. If not because we had good harvests in the last two farming seasons the situation would have been deteriorated.

"These youths even if they travel out of the North for greener pasture they hardly make it economically because what they earn as income cannot afford them to meet their basic needs or return home.

"All these explanations I made, they refused to highlight them in their report and you know the media in Nigeria in most cases only do what they like.

"For instance the nation's achievements in the agricultural sector where millions of Nigerians benefited financially were left unreported by the media."

President Buhari is currently on a working visit to the United States where he met his counterpart, President Donald Trump, at the White House on Monday, April 30, 2018.

Buhari's words manipulated - Presidency
After the relentless wave of criticism that trailed Buhari's London comments, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, released a statement to allege that his words had been deliberately twisted by mischief makers to fit their agenda.

According to him, the president did not say that all Nigerian youths are lazy, but rather a lot of them. He further argued that the president could not have taken a swipe at all Nigerian youths because he values the youths, and knows that they are the fulcrum on which the future of the country rests.

The EFCC had filed an ex-parte motion seeking temporary forfeiture of some property allegedly belonging to Ariwabai Aruera Reachout Foundation located at Plot No. 1758, Cadastral Zone, B06, Mabushi and Plot No.1350, Cadastral Zone, A00 Central Business District, Abuja.

In the application, the complainant/applicant prayed the court for an order of interim attachment/forfeiture of the assets and property set out in the schedule attached to the suit.

The anti-graft agency was equally seeking an order stopping any disposal, conveyance, mortgage, lease, sale or alienation or otherwise of the property/asset described in the attached herein: an order authorising EFCC to appoint competent person(s)/firm to manage the asset/property listed in the schedule herein, temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government pending the conclusion of investigation.

It stated that the application was predicated on the fact that the property were subject matter of investigation, enquiry and examination.

However, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, ruling on the commission’s ex-parte motion, gave the EFCC 45 days to investigate whether the property acquired by Mrs. Jonathan was done with the proceeds of crime.

He said: “I have carefully considered the processes filed. I have also carefully considered the arguments.

“Accordingly, a period of 45 days is accorded to the EFCC to investigate whether the property in question were acquired with the proceeds of crime.”

The judge also dismissed the motion challenging the originating summons.

Meanwhile, counsel to Patience Jonathan, Chief Mike Ozekhome, while reacting to the ruling, held that the position of the court was a victory for his client.

He said: “We did not lose. We won. What the EFCC wanted was for the property in dispute attached and forfeited to the government but the court refused and instead gave them 45 days to further investigate and prosecute if they so wish with liberty to apply for renewal.

“That is actually victory for us as the property was not forfeiture.”
